We're now looking for an experienced Operations Planner to join our Operations team in Tauranga. This is a key role responsible for forward planning, workforce scheduling, and operational coordination across the business.
About the role
In this role, you'll take ownership of operational planning and scheduling, with a strong focus on large maintenance shutdowns, major projects, and workforce utilisation. Working closely with the Operations Manager and Supervisors, you'll ensure labour, equipment, fleet, and logistics are planned and deployed efficiently, safely, and commercially.
Supervisors manage the day-to-day delivery on site, you'll be looking ahead, identifying conflicts, optimising resources, and supporting smooth operational execution across multiple sites.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and manage forward operational plans and schedules
Plan and coordinate major maintenance shutdowns and project work
Optimise labour utilisation and workforce deployment across sites
Identify and resolve resourcing conflicts and capacity constraints
Coordinate labour, plant, equipment, vehicles, logistics, and subcontractors
Provide operational reports, forecasts, and utilisation insights to the Operations Manager
Support urgent operational requirements and problem-solving when needed
Plan annual leave to align with operational demand
Schedule and coordinate training and compliance requirements
Assist with fleet and plant servicing, compliance, and administration
About you
You're highly organised, commercially focused, and confident working in fast-paced operational environments. You're comfortable balancing competing priorities and making practical, well-reasoned decisions that support business performance.
You'll ideally bring:
Experience in operational planning, scheduling, or shutdown planning
Exposure to industrial, construction, or maintenance environments
Strong workforce and resource planning capability
A sound understanding of labour, plant, and logistics coordination
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Confidence working with operational data and planning tools
Solid computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
A qualification in operations, logistics, planning, or a related field is desirable but not essential. A trade or industrial background is also an advantage.
